Personally I wash mine as soon as I can. Usually I come home from class, shower then throw the gi in (let it soak in stain stuff if there is blood or whatnot on it). Helps keep not only the smell away, but ringworm, staph and all the other infections that may get to you at bay. As far as how to wash the gi, that depends on what kind you have. Some gis, like Koral are pre shrunk so you can dry them without worry of shrinkage (if they do it will be minor like maybe 1/2 inches in the sleeves), but if you have most other gis you need to wash in cold, and hang dry (if it fits you correctly) if it is big you can dry it for 10 min then try it on, and repeat that until you get the desired fit. Hope this helps

Atamas are not pre shrunk, and they are pretty good about keeping color as well. My school gi is Atama, and there are lots of people there who use blue ones, and people who have had theirs for a year plus are a little lighter but not much.

i wash mine once a week, i use hot water cuz it doesnt rlly affect any shrinkage of the gi, but them i hang it to dry, unless its big then i will dry it, like my howard gi is a bit big and wont shrink aymore so if i want to i can just throw it in the dryer, but thats kinda wasteful of energy since gis take a long time to fry

I wash mine every 2 to 3 uses. Really depends on how much I sweat in it. I throw mine in the washer, then dry it in the dryer at a very low setting.
