View Full Version : Kamakubi question
Ari, in your video when you were demonstrating the move, can't someone just easily yank their arm out if they just do it all of a sudden? I mean it looks like nothing is securing their arm inside, and how would you make them walk?

It's all physics. By keeping the elbow and the wrist at 90 degree angles (or more) it places a tremendous amount of pressure/compression on the wrist joint.
When I have a goose neck on, its on tight. Escorts are great because you have a kinesethic awareness of the entire body of your opponent. In other words, you can feel the slightest movement from them.
Pulling away when its on tight just ain't an option.
I'll show you some time (wink).
Funny thing is, a lot of the Japanese Jiu Jitsu is so subtle that it is hard to understand it via video sometime. Ask Tom about some of the wrist locks I showed him when I was down there.
Good question Andy!
I think its kinda like in wrestling when you have the wrist and your head is in the back of the armpit. You can pretty much control the body because of a pressure point.
