Before I go to class and roll I dont eat for a few hours before hand. With people saying that tourneys tend to run late, and we have to be there fairly early, can someone recommend a good breakfast and snacks? Something that wont feel heavy on the stomach? Thanks a ton.

I always eat eggs and a piece or two of toast, eggs give long lasting protein while toast(and jelly) will give you the immediate boost of carbs you need to get powered up for the tourney, wake up where you have enough time to eat comfortably, shoving food down is never a good idea. i usually figure out the times, you will probably have 30 mins between divisions, where i'll eat your favorite healthy sandwich, some pasta salad(my personal favorite) and some triscuits, my favorite =P, but any form of quick/slow digesting carb combination will do. basically, you wanna crank carbs for long lasting energy and definitely pick up some powerade and water for throughout. Trail mixes are a good Snack option...Avoid "empty carbs" such as pretzels, white bread, rice snacks...basically anything that looks "white"...they wont give you what your body needs.

Your probably gonna have to plan a day ahead and make food, so you don't have to resort to the garbage they serve there. Your body will thank you.

Friendly tip is to find out your match times before hand, they usually have em posted and allow around 20-30 mins from any signifigant "refuel" before match, cause going out on a full stomach, really really sucks.

Sorry for being the "nutritionist" but..
Another mistake alot of people make is not chewing well enough, better chewing = surface area which means that the food will digest faster and in return you will still not have that "full" feeling on the mat, and you will also eat less because your body takes 20 mins to realize your full =P (Why most people overeat)

When I wrestled we routinely had certain things we ate after weigh-ins and before our matches.

1. chicken and noodle soup
2. honey

Ya can't quote me on that one-Ari Bolden
