Hey there G:
To answer your question:
Goshin Jujitsu is a modern style of self defense taking "the best aspects" of jujitsu styles and making it "their own". I teach a 'goshin based' art at my school (I take my Daito Ryu, Aikido, submission grappling and bjj) and it works really well.
Is there a mian difference between the two? Dpends on what you school focuses on. At my dojo, I seperate traditional Japanese jujitsu (goshin: self defense) and submission grappling (bjj, 10th planet, sport aspect of the art).
As a general rule, BJJ will excel on the ground because that is what they focus on. Goshin guys touch upon the ne waza stuff (ground work) but don't spend the countless hours on the mat like bjjers do.
But, like I said, depends on the school. I do both at my place and as you can see by my videos, I love that aspect of the art.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply Ari! Im learning Goshin and "submission wrestling"... Kinda limited around here to schools unless i drive an hour to knuckleup n learn from them.. gas costs to much lol. I originally wanted to start with the BJJ but chose Goshin mainly because i drive 5 miles instead of almost 100. But hey gotta start somewhere :). Thanks for the reply man
