I gotta get a cup. What are yalls thoughts on Compression shorts? Good? Bad? Or is it one of those you hate em or love em kind of things. As far as a mouthguard im thinking of going with Shock Doctor orrr maybe customguards.com... tho more expensive i hear good things about how they fit and comfortable a custom is. Im not planning on being Mr ufc warrior.. so i dont feel the need to go overboard with gear.. just looking for something functional for now without spending tons of money. Any info would be great. Thanks guys :D
I am not sure how compression shorts work but you should ask yourself if you want anything less than plastic guarding your nuts against knees and kicks, accidental or not.

If you are looking for the best cup on the market google "nutty buddy", that thing is amazing and I have read nothing but amazing reviews. I plan on ordering one as soon as my bank account allows me to lol.I have a compression short / cup combo right now, it is better than nothing, but the design is out dated in my opinion. Mouthguards, shock doc. is what I use, but if you want the best fit possible, talk to your local dentist and they can taylor make one just for you, much like custom mouthguard places on the net, but your dentist can make sure everything is perfect.

Thanks for opening my eyes to "nutty buddy" news to me!
Shock Doc is good IMO. I used that in my fight and it handled a punch to the mouth fine.

compression shorts and a gi, or rash guard type top, i stopped doing competetive MMA and am now really only compete in rolling with buds, or doing w/e in class, i don't were a cup when im just doing BJJ, but when i do Judo(because it's scary when an uchi mata hits the groin more than the thy) i wear one with "sliding shorts" compression shorts with cup combo and when/if i wear a mouth piece i have a custom made one from my friend who is a dentist, he does mine for free, and they fit great:D MMA a cup is a must because getting knee'd there is life ending IMO because if i get a full on knee there with out any protection i think i would lay there... but i think dentist mouth guards are better, because they fit you personally and if it feels wrong you can get a new one for cheaper, if you order online if it isn't comfortable then you have to worry about shipping and policies etc... dentist is just easier IMO
good luck/be safe and wear a cup if knees are aloud and have fun

When I Roll With Friends It's Usually No Gi And I Only Use Some Shorts, Rash Guard, T-shirt, And My Shock Doc Mouth Piece?!
i always wear a cup, mouthguard, and earguards.
hematomas suck. getting your nuts mashed sucks. getting your jaw "clicked" sucks.

has anyone tried the foam cups?
if so.. do they protect enough?
Ok so I went to the nutty buddy site and am skeptical because it doesn't sit in a pocket, it just rests between your shorts and your jock strap. Is it really that effective, it sounds LESS secure than a standard cup & jock.

Here is the breakdown. It is designed that way so it can float. You wont have the cup digging into you when you are in an odd position, it is able to move around and adjust with you. I sadly do not have one yet, it is on my "to order" list. I have not seen a bad review of the product so far. There are alot of in depth reviews about it online.
