Cleaner?

For those who clean the mats or Ari, what kind of cleaner do you guys use, or do you just use a mixture of bleach / water? Getting ready to get a mat set up in my house and wanted to know what would be best to use to keep everything nice and clean. Thanks in advance.

Lysol. The one in a spray bottle thats like a bright yellow. It disinfects and kills everything and it smells nice. =) What I use to help my buddy clean his at home mats.

There is much debate about what to use to clean the mats. I use lysol or pinesol cleaner on my mats. Some people arrgue that you need a special anti fungul cleaner (ring worm).

The secret of keeping your mats clean and ring worm or staph free is cleaning the mats often. I do this all the time at my gym and I haven't had an incident yet in 4 years.

Rules to follow:

-sweep and vacuum the mats every class
-wash the mats with hot water and cleaner often (or after every class)
- do not WEAR SHOES on the mat. This tracks in dirt and ring worm spores onto the mat. Make sure you are really resolute on this point.
-don't let guys with ring or staph practice until it is cleared up.

Like I said, I have the cleanest gym in town and I make it a point to keep it that way.
