Well hears my Review!

so i order it 3 days before christmas and got 2 day shipping it came in four... oh well... it was so worth the wait, some great stuff on hear and if you don't have a copy yet, i suggest you pick one up

it is broken down into 3 disks

disk 1-half guard/butterfly guard
disk 2-rubber guard
disk 3-spider web

disk 1 helped a ton, atleast the first half for me, my half guard game sucked, i had 1 or 2 sweeps to get to basic guard or another few to set up butterfly, my butterfly was already strong it's a fundamental thing for gracies to work on, but i picked up 1 or 2 things here

i really liked the powder keg, the tepee and the dogfight.... but i just never had the knowlege of the whipup before, it is great and gives you sooo many oppurtunities for subs or sweeps, this will really improve your half guard game!

disk 2 for me was easily the best, it is the reason i got the dvd, i had little/no RG game before i got the DVD, now i feel like a champ and love using it in the 5 times i've rolled since i got the dvd

this one's gonna be long because theres a lot of new stuff for me, starting off, crack head and retard control were a good rest spot to plan out the path to attack, retard is very chill i don't know anything from it but holding, but crack head is a good control with a few subs.... the zombie is new for me, and my favorite position is new york, because it goes just about any where, so the zombie is a quick common way to get new york especially if you roll with people who don't know RG:D none of my partners do, so the zombie is amazing and puts you right to new york...night of the living dead and the exhumer are a few tricks to get you were the zombie will put you and that is leaving your opponent with the hand on the mat

now going to putting hands on your own stomach and attacking the arms etc... from here you have the pump (gets you there) the duda (attacks the arms) the croc and the east coast croc (a switch both do similar things/on opposite sides) so there are a few subs i probably forgot, but those are the ones i have nailed so far from when your opponent has wrist on your chest

rubber guard going from mission control i like set ups in new york to chill dog, then going for 1 of many things, jiu claw, omoplata, invicible collar, gogo plata, loco plata, the DA, the snitch, unwinder, the drowning jiu, fm ankle lock, mad dog, crow bar, carni, invicible collar (vs small man variation), rescue dog, invicible croc and invicible gator, there is just so damn much that you can do and i love it, because they are all set up in new york, if i get my partner in new york it is over, there is sooo many subs, and sweeps from here it's unbelivable what eddie has done with it, you still have higher percentage standard triangle, or standard gogo (eddies gogo from RG is very tight compaired to standard JJ gogo) i feel that the RG has added to my game a lot, i don't know if i will go standard guard again, and if i do it's for class or to use my 6 years of classic GJJ, but a few days of RG makes me feel like if i had 6 years of RG i'd dominate from guard:D

very well put together first and 2nd disk, the top always has some myspace link but it didn't bother me any, and i am on disk 3 and it's a little too complicated for me right now, i have got the swim move down and most regular armbars from the spiderweb and the lock but all the upper level subs and other stuff is too much for 1 day, i am drilling half guard and RG right now, and when i get decent at them i will work more w/ the spiderweb, but for now the RG and HG are great!

any one thinking of buying this DVD... do it, you will learn a lot, if you have no backround in RG or if you've been doing it for years you can brush up or learn a ton of new stuff, i am still learning but just the HG and RG so far was worth the 120 bucks for me, and still have butterfly brush up and the whole spiderweb game to go, i think it is well worth it, and i love seeing all this because i know the basic's of standard GJJ or BJJ but the 10th Planet JJ is off the chain, the stuff works, and it will make you feel dominent off your back GET IT 100$ amazing dvds well worth the buy 9.8 out of 10 (-.2 because the intro makes you watch a fat man drooling over rubber guard:pand because it came a few days late... o well:o ) JK i got some humor out of the big man and it's a decent intro if you listen 10 out of 10 thanks for reading and if you get it enjoy watching!!!

If you do get it, please do a review =) That goes for Ari too if you have seen it or will be viewing it when you hook up with Eddie in Jan. And Brett, good luck on opening a school. I have thought about it (though I am a looong time off) but I love the sport, and luckily everyone at my school seems very nice and helpfull, and I would like to share that with people that are closer in my area so others dont have to drive over an hour each way to get to class.

I am really leaning towards getting it... i just think that the price is high, because i mean ari was going to offer 100 techniques for 10 bucks on itunes, and it's 120$ for 130 of eddies stuff, i don't really want anything else for the holiday season so i really think that the DVDs are what i'm gonna get, i'll write up a review here or in a new topic when i watch the 3 dvd's... i can't wait

and as far as me opening a dojo, i am still about 8ish years away, i want to become a black belt in GJJ learn a lot of self defense and JJJ and hopefully get a good Dojo open, i am hoping in Japan, or an oriental area, most anywhere in eastern Asia or a mountain dojo in the Himalayas, maybe somewhere in Maui hawaii, i want to have everything perfect, because if i teach for 50 years i wanna love everything about where i am and what i am doing/teaching, so i gotta decide climate and tons of other stuff... i still have years of thinking and training before i get there, but i don't want to jump the gun on what i offer because the first 30 of my years will lead into the next 50 of teaching (hopefully) and i just hope to one day be just like helio gracie, i will be 80 years old and still rolling, still teaching and doing the thing i love most

i envy ari for beginning the journey of being an instructor i would love to be where you are now ari, and i have a ton of respect for you and all the work you put in to get you where you are now and having a well known school, and videos being watched all over the world, and i don't know how long you plan to stay in JJ but i wish you the best of luck to continue in your teachings and i hope that you continue to do well, great job so far and i hope to one day be a successful teacher also

I have preordered it from amazon. It should be in tomorrow.

The book "mastering the rubber guard" really improved my jujitsu FWIW. So, I am sure the video will be great. Bravo does a good job of breaking things down step by step. He is one of the best teachers around right now.

I'll post a review after I get the video.

Mastering the Rubber Guard 3 DVD Set with Eddie Bravo #12141
In his best-selling jiu-jitsu book, Mastering the Rubber Guard, Eddie Bravo lays out his entire half guard game, his entire butterfly guard game, and the secrets of the infamous Rubber Guard. Now, for the first time, Bravo unveils his entire guard system on DVD. The box set includes three DVDs that contain hours upon hours of easy-to-understand instructional training and live rolling. The collectors set covers the half guard, the butterfly guard, the entire Rubber Guard, escapes back to guard, and Spider Web. Unlike the majority of martial arts instructional DVDs that can bore a viewer to tears, Mastering the Rubber Guard (DVD) contains hours of bonus footage, including comedy sketches, Eddie Bravo music videos, and never-before seen footage where the Victory Belt Staff punks Bravo at the 10th Planet Academy with a pretty girl and an angry 300-pound meathead.

when you get everything let us know how the service is over there unless Tom or Ari are uncomfortable with it (not sure if other Jiu-Jitsu videos are something they want to sell more often).

Just finished watching all 3 dvds. I can't say enough about how well Bravo breaks everything down. 5 stars. The only complaint I have is that in the top right hand corner of the screen a myspace web address is posted there. I was thinking it would go away, but it doesn't. Eventually, your thalamus kicks in and you zone it out, but it sucks.
As for the jiujitsu, everything transitions so well that you can just about memorize everything in one watching. I would pay another 100 dollars for a dvd on mount and side control if Bravo would teach it.
Eddie is a great entertainer. There are lots of extras and clips. There are clips of rolling and random comedy scenes. The dvd is produced really well and put together well.

Get it. It will make you better. I really hope Eddie does a dvd teaching anything else. Even just traditional stuff.

Good review Brett, I didnt think it would have that much to do with butterfly guard. Now that I know that it is going to be on my "to buy" list lol. Most likely will be awhile longer. I would like to get some more of the basics down and get some more flexability before I try RG at least.
