So I was rolling with my partner yesterday, and as I was passing his guard, he caught my right leg into his half guard. I started playing with his left arm, trying to get him to forget about my leg so I could squeeze it out and fall into side control. I tried locking in an Americana, but he straightened his arm at the last minute. So I just went with it, experimenting. With me still in his half guard, but my left knee almost in side control position, I had his arm stretched out, my right hand controlling his wrist, palm up, and my left arm fed underneath his arm, as if going for a kimura. My forearm just so happened to be at his elbow, so I pushed down on his wrist, grabbed my right forearm with my left hand, and pulled up with my left forearm....and he tapped, instantly.... I hope I explained that ok and you guys can get a picture about what happened. My question is, has anyone seen this before, or done it, is it something I could possibly look for? Or maybe it was just a fluke? It seemed like a pretty effective submission, and was nice to have something that had a bit of leverage when in someone's half guard. As always, your insight is always appreciated guys. Sorry for the long winded post.

Sort of like Matt Hughes did to Royce Gracie in UFC 60? Royce didn't tap but should of...

Inverted armbar...works very well...(see my triangle from side control)

sounds like a straight arm kimura, although for that you would grab your wrist instead of your forearm.

yep..that was it Ari, except I was in his half guard when he tapped...nice to know I have one of the two steps down in your #3 submission.
