2 things...

One...
I couldn't trap the arm from mission control yesterday... when I went to try and fish it to the mat they tucked it in real good and gabled to defend... trying for the slicer was just as hard they tucked it in to keep me from getting in there at all. Coach suggested, after class, I attack the head ( crank it over I guess ) to try and get them to reach out and create an opening. Thoughts.. suggestions?

Two...
Really big guy was a bitch to control kept pushing my leg off his hip. Where are putting your foot? I am putting it right on the hip bone and fighting to keep it in.

Eventually got the slicer on him but not deep enough and he fought it off then stacked me..

Try night of the living dead, also, there are a lot of moves that don't require their hand on the mat (meat hook, duda, crocodile)

meh .. No guard is un-stackable.

I'll look those up..

The "duda" is the bicep slicer I was going for. Still requires getting a hook on the arm but I couldn't on one guy. Looking at the demo pics I have, it looks like he may have been to low making it easier for him to hide his arms.

"Night of the living dead" is basically faking the meat hook triangle and trapping the arm when they move it to defend, so meat hook's definitely worth learning.

Note to self... failure to grab wrist after hooking arm results in an ass whooping when going for slicer

my fav way to get the arm if u can't zombie is just switch sides on mission control and get new york on his opposite side if he doesn't give up the arm on that side just keep going back and forth, most people won't bury both arms in your chest just one the other one ur not paying attention to is usually on the mat so i switch to that one. and two ur foot isn't supposed to be on his hip u should put it over his back and squeeze your legs together that way he can't push it down and pass over it; imagine going for closed guard whit just one leg u want ur other leg tight to him

I've started doing this recently when I saw Eddie, and now Ari, doing it while rolling (it wasn't in the book to do it that way, so I hadn't been till then). It really helps to keep them from shoving my leg down. Are there any disadvantages to playing it this way?

Forkfoot, do u mean what are the disadvantages to putting ur foot on the hip? or putting it across the back? cuz as far as i know it's better across the back, u can put it on the hip if u want to push him back to make space but if u keep it there he can reach back push it down and get to half guard. it says in the book to make sure ur foot's across his back and ur squeezing tight.

It does? Damn, I can't believe I missed that. I thought he was saying to squeeze your knees together with the foot on the hip. But people have still been able to jam it down and move to my half guard. I have been having much better luck with it across the back these last couple of weeks.
