View Full Version : Question
Greetings BJG Forum!
I roll with a couple of my friends, just for fun. Usually, I end up stacking this one guy's guard. Somehow, he always manages to break it and wrap both of his lower legs (calves) around my neck, not in a choke, but in a very secure grip.
This has happened more than once, and each time I was stuck trying to figure out how to get my head out. While he couldn't secure any submissions from that position, it was very uncomfortable to be in.
I've tried prying my arm in between his legs to escape, but that usually ends up in an arm bar  . Help!

Try keeping your arms closer to your body just before stacking. He won't be able to have enough power to pull off an arm bar, or keep hold of you hands anyhow. ANd if he does wrap his legs around your neck, you have your two arms to break free. PLay it conservatively when about to stack.
Well, that's what I think.
Hey Rasamat,
My arms are outside of his two legs when he wraps them around my neck. The problem is that he usually roll mes onto the ground with ease (much like the finish of a flying armbar), where I have difficulty getting back up or countering.

i think this is what they call "crack head control" in rubber guard by eddie bravo and the 10th planet jiu jitsu system, but this can be very hard to get out of, near impossible if they do it correctly, this is really a neutral position, they can't submit you, you can't submit them, try spinnin to a side and attacking an arm or a leg and stack hard and explode backwards on the side where you where prying off, if done quickly and with some force, you may break the control and leave them open to being mounted or you getting side control

Couple of things that may or may not help, put your head more towards his butt when stacking so you dont leave your head exposed. When he "scissors" your head, break the hold at his ankles. Also, welcome to the boards!

I don't roll with anybody whose head scissors are that strong, but if I did, I should imagine in such a situation I'd stack them, flip them over, force their legs to the ground, and rip my head out using my arms (wrestling headgear would be good for this if their scissors are that strong), then attack their legs with a toe-hold, either the standard figure-four or crushing their calf with my shin and pulling up on their toes, depending on what they give me.

i agree with forkfoot step across his body and roll him almost like a "boston crab" or have u ever seen the guard pas where u intentionally put his legs on ur shoulders and pass his legs to the side, it's a pretty basic pass and it sounds like this guy is begging for it u should check it out if u don't know it just type in guard pass on youtube there'll be a vid of it somewhere on there
