I just saw the trailer and I can honestly say I am disappointed. Its kind of retarded that they are making one fighter have an arm tied behind their back. Whats the point?

Your right, that is kinda retarded but other then that, it really looks like a pretty damn good movie. Better then "Never Back Down"!!!

I actually liked NBD. Maybe cuz of the hot chicks and that it was the first MMA movie. Who knows, maybe when I see more previews it will look more appealing to me.

To me Never Back Down was like Stomp the Yard or The Fast and the Furious, etc with MMA as the topic... not a good thing.

they both look absolutely retarded. RedBelt trailer completely turned me off.

+1. Although I think Redbelt looks better because of who they have in it (Randy, Machado). I know that several guys on here liked NBD (I haven't seen it), but I've never liked movies like that( fast and furious types..chicks, cars, go fast, bla bla bla).

Just you guys wait for the UFC to make their first movie: The Octogon (not to be confused with the amazing Chuck Norris flick of the same name).:p

Ari that movie was not good at all (the octagon), I still hear chuck norris whispering to his father all the time....

As far as the 1 arm tied behind their backs thing, that is a really common training exercise. We do drills where you can only use 1 arm, sometimes no arms for certain things. I am sure they kind of stretched that out for a full MMA fight, but at least its not like they came up with something goofy to do. I dont think JJ Machado would be in a movie and do most of the choreography for something that would make BJJ look bad. Just my humble opinion.

I just got back from watching the movie. It was very very slow. Also I was a bit confused by the ending. SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

Did the GM promote him to Redbelt at the end? Or was it just a sign of respect after the fight??

ok. Sorry if i ruined the movie for anyone...

Anyway to anwser you Dannicus, yes you are correct. All Mamet films end same cliff hanger way.

Btw for all who are wondering this movie sucked, you wanna watch it bootleg it or rent it for a dollar.

I think Eddie has terrible taste in movies...he told me he liked it and was surprised it wasn't as stupid as the trailers made it out to be...then again, he could have been stoned and watching a really good movie and thought it was redbelt.

Funny story, actully all the people I've talked to that said they liked it were stoned when watching....hmmmm... Oh and Eddie is from cali, they have a warped sense of shit out there:p .

I laughed my ass off when I read that. I probably will not see this until Netflix sends it to me

Eddie was probably watching Bloodsport, lol.

Then again if I remember correctly he was the sole raving reveiw for "Brazilian Brawl" featuring the Machado Bros. I remember thinking to myself this movie could only be good if you look at it as a comedy, and consume mind altering substances. When I thought that all of a sudden Eddie's review made a lot of sense :D

Maybe Eddie is just easily entertained. I mean, you never know.

What did you like about it? Just wondering..... maybe there is a positive to this movie that the others didn't notice.

This movie can't be worse than Cat in the Hat

To me, Never Back Down was just like the OC or those teenage shows on the CW except with street fighting in an MMA context. And I don't meant that as a compliment who hates the CW

I just found the story good.

the story was the worst part! the fight scenes were ok but therir weren't enough of em, but the story seemed like it was just tacked togetther from some old samurai movies, and place in modern times, the story was broken!!!! it skipped back and forth and it doesn't realy explain what's going on until the end and even then it leaves alot of questions!!!

Well I found it was sort of jumpy (the story) but it concluded ok. I mean it was no "Karate Kid" but I still enjoyed it.

I was very disappointed with it. I thought it started out good, then took a turn for the worse quickly after. Great name wasted on the movie. They should have took that title & made a movie about Helio Gracie.
