Now that I have the lockdown down, I find myself passively using it to maintain control and people are tapping out! Theres an older gentleman at judo who only practices newaza and I used the lockdown on him and he looked astonished. I'm guessing he's never felt a calf slicer before and didn't know if he should tap out or not and he was asking me what I was doing, so I showed him how and now he uses it  .
Is it cheap or unsportsmanlike (is that a word?) to use the lockdown to get a tap? I have long legs so I barely have to squeeze to inflict pain - I can see by their facial expression. I mean I can squeeze ALL DAY and not get tired and get taps. I have yet to use full force even. This seems kind of cheap, you know... I realize that 10PJJ turns it into an offensive position, but the rest of the world sees the guy on top as 1/2 way to side or full mount. It's easy to establish and effortless for me to get a tap. Would you use a move like this while rolling? No doubt you would in competition but when you are just rolling, do you see it as playing and practicing your game or a boring way to finish a roll?
Since I just recently unlocked the power of the lockdown (no pun intended), I've been using it sparingly, but I have been using it to see my, and other people's, limits.
