Nick- I had a question for you since you now have to decide on an alternate location for your 3rd childs tattoo. I have 1 boy and his name is located between my shoulders just below my neck. I am putting my daughters name on me too but not sure where I should put it so later in life they do not feel that one was more important than the other. I was going to put her name right below his but I don't want it to look like a grocery list of children. So, I guess my question is..... where should I put it so that later in life one child doesn't get upset about where their name is in relation to the other.

Mines on Homage to all things I love most and I chose the Gracie logo as a sign of respect to the Origins of the sport of BJJ. Its Japanese but you know what I mean...Helios transformation and vision of it.

Few people know its the Gracie logo and if it wasn't for the Gracies and watching the first UFCs we wouldn't be having this conversation and this forum wouldn't exist.

As far as Eddie same deal. No Gracie = No JJMachado = No 10th Planet.

Also with My Tattoo there is alot going on. I may incorporate 10th planet into it somehow as I do believe it is the next evolution of the guard but for now I'm very happy with this tat.

Okay so todays the day I go to get the consultation. I'll be getting the outline and shading done first (not today), and then when I can afford the colour I'll get it like my avatar (but reversed).

I view RED as the top game of 10th Planet...the twister, the mount, etc.

I view BLUE as the bottom game of 10th Planet...rubber guard, half guard, butterfly guard, etc

So, Red on Top, Blue on Bottom, makes sense no? :)


I was also thinking of getting IV:XX around it aswell, but I'll probably get that when I get my egyptian sleeve, as it links in with why I went ;)

As someone who is quite heavily tattooed I would go to one side. In my opinion a central piece needs to be quite large & as you are going quite high up I think to one side would be better.

If anyone can help an old bastard with how to actually post pics I will put some up.

Just remember you will get old so think about where you get them. It can seriously affect your future employment. I know it shouldnt but it does. Heard the saying 'the only difference between tattooed people & non tattooed people is we dont discriminate against the non tattooed!'

Well I realised that if I want a backpiece in future (which I probably will), I'll be stuck with it in my way. I'm going for the right leg. I've got 3 tattoos on the left side of my body, and after getting this 10thPlanet one I've got another lined up on the left side of my ribs. So I wanna start evening stuff out.

Ive always thought to myself...people tend to get themed tattoos, especially with sleeves. The left side of my body will be my life, and the right side of my body will be things that have changed my life! Such as my Egyptian half-sleeve I'm getting, and now the 10th planet logo.

Adding to your point about employment, I plan on being either a photographer (currently working towards a degree in 2011), a jiu jitsu teacher or fighter, or a musician. All 3 are working out well for me. Only when I make it in one (or more) of these certain fields, I'll get tattoos on my hand or neck.

I agree, it will be worth it! I'm glad he's done the circle lightly though, he's put it as a guide and I might of wanted to just keep it as it is cause it was REALLY painful. But I love jits and there's nothing like saying you love something by being tortured!

It's like if you're ticklish...and someone is tickling you after the point of it tickling and it more being painful...for 2 hours. And you have to keep still! I'm such a fag!

It is worth the pain, but damn 7 hours! I wanted to get it finished there and then but the guy said it'd be easier next time anyway and less painful! I think he was lying but it gives me courage! I know what to expect now, however, and I want it done ASAP! :(

No, your tattoo guy is correct. The toughest part is the shading and outlines. That doesn't mean the coloring isn't going to hurt as well, it just means it really should hurt less. My first tattoo, and looking back I wish I hadn't done it, kanji letters down my spinal column.

Shading wrecked. I have a half-sleeve on my arm full of colour and that didn't hurt half as much. The colour will be done quicker though! The only problem is, I have a tournament on the 22nd February so its another week off. I wanna get this finished though, and that can be the week I lift weights :)

Well I finally got it all finished. It turned out really well, when you consider the hack job that it started out as. I couldn't keep the jiu jitsu lettering under the 10th planet (it wasn't salvageable). But overall it looks a ton better.
