Ari... in the video that you made ' The Anatomy of the Choke ' how do you tell when to let go? When they go limp? I usually let go when I feel them go limp a little.. but I don't know how to tell by looking

Andy:
If you are in competition or just rolling with your buddies, you let go when they tap or the ref tells you to stop.
In self defense, you let go when the body goes limp (dead weight). Sometimes the eyes roll back, other times the face droops. Usually a person will come to between 3 and 30 seconds (depending on how long you've put the choke on after they have been KOed).
Remember holding a choke for an extended period of time could cause damage. There have been, to date, no deaths in Judo or Jiu Jitsu due to chokes. But, it doesn't mean it can't happen.
