I am new to BJJ but seem to be getting countered when attacking from the guard. Whats my best strategy just try and pass and mount and or go for foot locks?

Position before submission!

Pass the guard and work from a better advantage point.

That's ok brother, it happen's. Like you said, your new. Feel them out, don't telegraph what your doing next. Sell one move to set up another & roll, roll, roll. The more mat time you put in, the more efficient you'll become with BJJ.

Pass or get really good at leg locks & heel hooks ;)

Seriously the guys are both right. Work for a better postion and improvement will happen with experience. Also if your partner has been doing it a while ask him... "I feel stuck here what is a good way to pass the guard"

Welcome aboard!

Maybe I should also be sitting up more inside the guard. Also even when I passed the better guys keep there knees up high so I could still not mount or get side control ideas?

Thanks for your help guys! Love the videos on the site, I just bought the works DVD the other day hopefully a new one will be out soon.

If you want to see some hellacious guard passing and mounts watch Sean Sherk vs Hermes Franca..... Unbelievable!

I personally really like lowerbody subs, but passing guard into mount or side control is generally safer
