UFC 75 to Air via Tape Delay on Spike TV
Posted by UFC Junkie on July 16, 2007 at 3:21 pm ET
The upcoming “UFC 75: Champion vs. Champion” event, which takes place Sept. 8 at The 02 Arena in London, England, will air on Spike TV, according to a press release that the cable channel issued this afternoon.

The televised portion of the event will air on tape delay beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

Spike TV, which traditionally hosts UFC Fight Nights and The Ultimate Fighter Finales, will have its most notable UFC main event in the channel’s history. The UFC 75 headline fight between UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson (27-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and PRIDE welterweight (183-pound) and middleweight (205-pound) champion Dan Henderson (22-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will unify the two organizations’ 205-pound belts.

Essentially, it’s the most prolific and meaningful fight to ever air on Spike.

“Spike TV is thrilled to present such a monumental bout between these two great champions,” said Kevin Kay, general manager of Spike TV. “Not only will this be the first ever unification bout, but it is Spike TV’s first ever UFC title fight.“

The event — the third to take place outside the U.S. this year — will also feature Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Cheick Kongo, and The Ultimate Fighter 3 light heavyweight winner Michael Bisping vs. his former castmate (and fan favorite) Matt Hamill.

This will be the second major UFC event that Spike TV has broadcast this year. Back in April, the station aired UFC 70 — also on tape delay. The event took place at M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England and averaged 2.8 million viewers (and 3.5 million for the main event between Filipovic and Gabriel Gonzaga).

I think it is too close to call. I have 49 Pridefc dvds and have followed both of these guys careers really closely. I like Quintons personality more but I cant discredit Hollywood in terms of skill. I think we are in for a special treat!

Hendo will win and then we will see Rua and him get it on.

This whole sitation is kind of killing me....both Hendo and Rampage are favorites of mine and the winner will have to face shogu also a fav.

but idk I kinda see Page pulling this one out I think he may be just to strong but then again he got torn apart by Wandy and we saw what Henderson did to wand...

All in all I Sound like im doing MMAmath so im goin stop my rant by saying whoever wins this fight will fall to Shogun their next time around.

IDK. There are some fighters I can't see losing. Fedor, Henderson, Huerta (just seems like an animal) and Stevenson (so technical, I could see him beating Sherk and Penn) are just a few I would be blown away about. Liddell was bound to lose for not keeping his hands up.

I wanna see Hendo win, not a really big rampage fan.

Also did you see Hendo's knockout of Wanderlei Silva?

I think Rampage will pull out the win on this one.

Im looking at my tickets now and cant wait. I just think Rampage will be to strong and big for Hendo to deal with. Hendo isnt suppose to be at that weight and i do think the silva fight was a one off. Hendo is a great wrestler but Rampage is so powerful
