I just wanted to get some opinions on something that happened to me ( I will try to make it short and sweet ). Basically, my jj instructer invited me/got me into his instructors class. The issue is he didn't ask anyone else, partly because I know the class does have a limited size but there is room for a couple more people. I guess I just feel a little wierd about, almost like I'm being sneaky. I only told one guy in my gym and I know he would like to at least try the other gym. But, my instructor hasn't "invited" anyone else so I kinda of feel it may not be my place to say much about it.

p.s. I don't think my being invited to my instructors club had anything to do with my skill ( which isn't very much, I have only been training for 5 months ) or favoritism. I'didn't even think he cared for me all that much untill he invited me to his gym.

Maybe he sees something in you that he doesn't see in the other guys. I got an invite from our highest rank in the association to train with him for a week and I've only been training with this association for just over a year.

Don't feel sneaky. Be humble ie. don't talk about it to other people in your gym/dojo lol

I don't know the etiquette about this so Ari would be a great addition to this conversation. I tend to walk with caution when a person of authority/trust takes a special interest in just 1 student......especially when there is room for others to benefit from the class.

Ari, opinion?

I am with you on this Ryan.
A little caution is never wrong.
I just would straight ask him why he?s chosen you and no one else.

Ya, I don't talk about it at all and I am greatfull for the chance train at this new club. I am the only student who expressed intrest in competing ( but are class is small ). I thought that may have been the reason.

Well, do what you think is right. I would like to see what Ari has to say about this but if you feel comfy with it then by all means.... enjoy.

I think you answered your own question man. if you are the only one in class that has shown interest in competing than I think that is more than enough reason to believe that is why you were chosen young grasshopper:p

At the end of the day I guess that if my instructor wanted to invite other people he would have. It may also be an issue of members. There were four more regular members there today and we were just about running into each other.
