Hey Ari. I know you are a busy man but.... Is there any way you can demonstrate some escapes from cross mount and some open guard sweeps? thanks a bundle.

Thanks a ton. Getting stuck inside a cross body under a beefy wrestler is one of my downfalls. And people tend to catch on to the same two escapes. thanks again

How has wrestlers at your gym adapted to BJJ? Its odd because we hate being on our backs and things that are acceptable in wrestling (giving up back, leaving legs open for locks) will get you in the hospital or dream street in BJJ.

Hey Ryan. Most of the wrestlers where i train have only partially adapted. They seem to be REALLY good at avoiding the submissions, but still havent figured out that they need to pace themselves for a longer roll. A few of them that have really caught on are monsters on the mat. But many are still stuck in the 3 rounds of two minutes mode. As far as learning the submissions, unfortunately only a few seem to think its neccesary. For example, a guy that just started training 1 MONTH AGO is going to fight in the cage! His name is Max. I was showing him some basics like the armbar from the guard and how to posture in each position. He snickered at me and said "Submissions wont work on me because im too strong." I said "Apparently, you havent heard of Royce Gracie, or Antonio Rodrigo Noguera." He just kinda blew me off and went over to where they were doing pad drills. Now dont get me wrong, there are plenty of wrestlers where I train that have a great attitide and are constantly improving on their game but there are a few stuck in that wrestlers mantality. There are even a few that train at World Gym that went over to the only true BJJ school in my town and were literally kicked out for being too rowdy. Its kinda sad. Well Ryan I hope Im not being too long winded and I hope that you know that I DO understand how well wrestling works in the street and in the cage. Champions like Hughes, Coleman, Kerr, Randleman, and Couture are great examples of this. I just want everyone to train with an open mind to enhance their own game.

Strength is nothing when you some basically waits until you're gassed and then has their way with you. I've rolled with a guy who is totally jacked and was never able to arm bar but after a few minutes of rolling you can totally catch him in many other things.

To make matters worse for poor Max, I know the guy he's fighting. His name is Jeremiah, and he has 4 years of judo and 2 years of BJJ. I almost feel bad......

Just to clear the air...... I am a wrestler who believes in BJJ as being one of, if not, THE greatest fighting style around. My point of asking how they adapt is because I believe wrestling really helps a BJJ practicioner with transitions from mount, side control and with hooks. I think in all honesty that wrestling is BJJ without the submissions and being on your back is ok in BJJ. Wrestlers like Max give us a bad name. He will learn.:D

I totally agree with you Ryan. One of my best friends wrestled 4 years in high school, and he transitioned incredibly well to the BJJ. He actually tapped me out for the first six months we trained togeather, due to me having no ground expierence. So I do feel that wrestling is great for JJ but its sad to see alot of them stay closed minded.

Well, off to the dojo. I have about 20 video requests. Let's see how many I can get through! Next update should be a good one!

Hey Jake:

There have been several videos over the years that I have taken down and replaced with better versions. For example, the last video I just put up (crucifix) is a redone one (one of my firsts).
