In the gym I go to, the guy with the most seniority picks. So, its a very eclectic mix, the older guys seem to like the harder stuff, metallica, disturbed. The younger guys are more into hip hop. So we roll to alot of different music.

The sound of my opponent's will being crushed.
That... and some good ol' fashion rock n' roll.

We do not listen to music at all at our gym.
We do not listen to music at all at our gym.
Muay Thai do though. They play this Asian twang twang stuff. Sounds like bad Thai bluegrass. :D
I listen to the instructor :)

there's also no music during class at my gym. open mat after class usually has someone playing some rap though. i can't say for sure if it effects my game, but it makes for a more chilled back atmosphere.
how about training? what does everyone get their pain on to? when i'm sprinting/running i'll listen to bob marley and the like, and then when it's time to hit the weights i'll put on some amon amarth and other heavy stuff.

We always have music going at our place...
Usually the instructor just plugs in his iPod and we go to that. Generally speaking we don't do anything too heavy, although one instructor is fond of MegaDeath and AC/DC... alot of Hip Hop unfortunately though.
We do have special playlists though just to mess with people... anytime someone shows up who has been missing class due to woman troubles we have a class set to the soothing sounds of Celine Dion and Sarah McLachlan. Its pretty amusing.

we usually get rock, metal, or hip hop. But i like indie and ska:( . So i condition and weight train with cake, the shins, aquabats, and a whole lot of underground bands when i'm not mma training.

We only have music on during open mat time, or classes where it's going to be a live rolling day. That being said, I am ok with a bit of background music, but I think you need to be careful, if the music is so loud that a person could not hear someone verbally submit, and the other person cannot physically tap, there is a safety issue involved.

i know what your talkin about, that stuff is brutal to the ear!
i dont think i've ever rolled to music but in muay thai there's nothing better to hit the bag to than the prodigy- smack my bitch up. before i get abuse for condoning violence against women i just want to say i dont like the music they play but while working out its really great! and i dont beat up women or condone such acts! dont know about you guys in the rest of the world but in the uk there was a huge uproar when that song came out from womens rights groups!
Fuck those womens rights groups, complaining over nothing.
SMACK MY BITCH UP!

It's sort of a whoever gets a cd in first policy, which makes for interesting variety.

Korn, System, anything a little heavier when i am doing mma or jits. When i am by myself and am lifting or stretching, i like fair to midland, or enya (gay i know).

lol.... Fair To Midland huh? I saw them in concert 2 years ago. I walked into the concert during their first song and thought it was The Darkness. I looked up and realized it was a SOAD signed/produced band.
When rolling in class there is no music. When I drill at home (with or without a partner) , Ravi Shanker when drilling and working new moves, Crystal Method Vegas when we're rolling all out.

I think we have stuff on, but I never notice until after class when the kickboxers come in and change the cd. Maybe we don't have it on most of the time, or maybe we do and I just don't realize.
Fair to Midland's pretty cool, I've got their album on my Ipod at work right now.
