If anyone has the DVD Eddie put out called The Twister, in the first match he submits his opponent with a crazy HANDS FREE calf crank from the lockdown. Has anyone experimented with this? I planned on learning every detail of how it's done, when's a good time to do it, when isn't, and so fourth. It's not explained in either MTRG or MTT, however. So I had to resort to watching the clip over and over again. He described it as a move he assumed would crush everyone when he was a blue belt. Perhaps there's some fatal flaw that makes it a really bad move to attempt, and he just didn't realize it as he was just a blue? I hope not, because it looks SICK! Check it out, everyone.

It's just not painful enough to make most opponents tap in competition, and poses zero risk for injury. In other words, not really a legit jiu-jitsu technique.

This is a "legit" jui Jitsu technique called ashi kannuki. The lock down in this case comes from the inside out instead of the outside in. This has the effect of allowing you to stretch the leg over a longer distance, making the lock tighter and more painful.

The downside is that if you don't control the opponent's same side arm. there's a simple toe hold for the top guy by just reaching back and grabbing the exposed foot.

i kinda discovered something like that from lockdown on my own. it's very effective for me, most people don't seem to expect it.

There seemed to be a little more to it than that. At some point, the toes of one foot are curling over the opposing leg's shin. I'll have to check out JJ Unleashed.

On your twister DVD Eddie actually teaches that move. I have done it some times, but I find when the sprawl there leg out I loose it. I never messed with it much after I kept loosing it. Any way on the twister DVD there is several "easter eggs" as eddie calls them. From Joking around with Jean Jeac Machado, to showing the triangle choke off of the pyramid I believe. As well as showing the calf crank from the lock down that he did in his match. They had a thread on it awhile back on mma.tv let me do a search for it and I will copy and post how to unlock the "easter eggs" in the vid.

Go to this website and it will show you how to unlock the easter eggs on the Twister DVD. One of those will be the instructional on the Kamikaze calf crank from the lock down that he did on his opponent in the competion vid you saw.

I hope this helps you with what your looking for.
Let me know if you find the calf crank instructional vid in the twister dvd.
