I think the asylum sweep is clearly copyrighted to 10th planet JJ and no one else.

If you have a Brazilian instructor it is called a sweep, just like almost all the other sweeps. :D

I really wanted to make a flow chart of possible answers to this (it would have been funny I think) but....

Good chance he would have said

"What?"

Then you would have to describe the move and the position is starts from (rubber guard, meat hook etc). Then his next line would be:

"OH...Eddie Bravo shit. That stuff doesn't work. No wonder I have never heard of it! Stick with simple names like omoplata, Mato Leao, and such. It's so much easier to remember!"

OR, the instructor says"

Oh...its called a sweep in BJJ."

<wink>

Or they are open to new ideas so its all good anyways.

Goldberg:

If you could please not capitalize every word and use punctuation in your posts, it would make it a lot easier to read. Thanks bro. Now back to the thread.

You might ask your instructor to show you the sweep, and if he doesnt know it by name start to explain it. They may know it as something different, or not really know the name of it. Worst thing that can happen is they dont know it, and you still dont lose anything.
