Side Control from bottom

I don't know if anyone else does this but for some reason when ever I'm in side on bottom I take my leg closest to him and hook it over the top of his leg. It keeps him from getting twister side and from mounting. I've yet to find a disadvantage to it other than it kind of forces them into scarf, but I'm comfortable there.

Just wondering if anyone else has done something like this and if you know of any disadvantages to doing this. If you can't visualize what I'm talking about let me know and I can get some pics.

I use that to hold their leg in place so I can go underneath and get a butterfly with my far leg, then raise that leg up & get my other butterfly.

Not sure I'm following but if I am it sounds like a good way to get yourself hip locked

I'll have to try it and see if it works for me. I'm terrible when someone gets me in sidecontrol. Anything has got to help besides struggling to get out.

I don't put my leg up on my other leg, i go from having my foot flat on the mat like normal, to having my foot flat on the mat but between his legs. kind of like an outside half guard.

tonight i kind of played around with it and found a sweep that works quite slick with it, and maybe even a sort of lockdown. and yes it works quite well to get a jail break with, but havent heard of 'the flo'. if anyone wants some pics to see what i'm talking about let me know. sadly i couldn't try these in a real roll, cuz of my rib, but when i get back to 100% i'll definitely be tryin them out.

... I don't know about hip-locks, but you are definitely asking for a backspin knee-bar if you just sit there. I love hitting that kneebar; which is why you have to be quick with the escape. Don't hang out for an instant.

Wasn't able to go to class tonight do to a brief illness, but I'll be able to take them on Wednesday night. I've also been thinking of stuff to do from that position and came up with a few things, now i just have to try them out.

Well I was planning on posting them up last night but I didn't make it to class. Turned out my mom had two ruptured discs in her neck and needed surgery, so I'm now sitting in the OR waiting room in Minneapolis waiting and hoping for her to get done alright. If all goes well we should be back home Saturday and I'll be back to class on monday.
