What's wrong with people not tapping these days?

lol - I would have broken his arm earlier then that. Given him a couple of seconds grace to tap and then snapped it.
Holy shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Excuse my french, but wow man, at least you delayed it and told the ref you didnt wanna snap it.

What an idiot. Did it end up just dislocating or did it break ?
Also whats up with you're friends bro they seem to have anger management problems ;) ...

Holly shit dude, good on ya for at least trying to not bust the dipshits arm. I hate grappling with people like that, I've stopped a few times where people say "I'm ok I have a high pain tolerence" or the classic "it's ok i have really flexible shoulders". "Lol no" is all i say. Flexibility doesn't make you immune to breaks, neither does a high pain tolerence, they just make you more likely to get hurt :) Flexibility and a high tolerence for pain mixed with inexperience makes for one sorry bastard I M O

Actually I tried to switch to a triangle to give the kid an out right before I finished it, but he tried to push my leg off and escape the second I loosened up. that's when I lost my sympathy. I honestly didn't really know how to handle that situation back then... I never saw anyone refuse to tap like that before. In all honesty if that happens again I will definitely not wait so long to end the match.
here's what happened though:
I told the ref the first time it popped, and she said "he's an adult. I can't stop it, he has to tap"
then I told her the second time it popped really bad loud enough for him to hear, and the ref replied, "I can't stop it; he's an adult" and she kinda shrugged at me like "he brought it on himself just break it"
This match took place right after I became an assistant instructor. Teaching, but not really running my own classes yet. Those guys yelling were students at the school excited to see me compete for the first time, and over-amped on energy drinks. They're all good people though, lol

.
I'm pretty sure it was an elbow dislocation. when we stood up his arm was swinging unnaturally and he couldn't really move it. He was all smiles and shook my hand with his other arm right after the match though. I even apologized and he said something like, "don't worry, it happens" and ran over to the medics.

Sweet mary and joseph, i had to turn away after seeing that. I have great respect for you and your efforts to talk to the ref.

if I were in his position, the moment I saw my arm straigtened out like that, I would've tapped out.

Jeez, that was pretty brutal. Your conscience should be clear though, as it was obvious you were making every effort to talk to the ref and avoid injury.

The list of idiots isn't limited to that player.
The ref and even the tournament director can wear the dunce hat too.

the ref was doing what she had to do, and she did a good job. this particular instance falls solely on the individual that refused to submit.
however I do think that the tournament director should wear a dunce hat regardless for other reasons, lol

what a dumbass. sorry, but... was that worth the injury for him? doubt it. he wasn't even trying to escape! just sitting there, like, "wow. this is going to hurt."
dumb.
nice armbar, though.

I don't understand the "I'll never tap" mentality. I guess if it's for a world championship and 250k but not for a small trophy tourney. I guess some people really do think that tapping makes you less of a man

one of my teammates actually talked to him and his coach a little later, and showed his coach the video. His coach turned to him and said "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!? why didn't you tap sooner???" and the guy replied, "I just didn't feel it until my arm got bent in half"

you're a real nasty piece of work mikey, hee hee. the guy had no defence once he couldn't get past your leg. i agree with badkarma, the ref should have asserted her authority on this occasion. no wonder his coach was mad!
nice work though!

man, i felt bad for both of you watching that. i could tell that you didn't want to hurt the kid and i feel bad for him for not having the sense to tap. it definitely showed that you're a classy guy though. you did everything you could to not have to crank it that hard. i'm the exact opposite when it comes to my arms, as soon as i know i'm caught, i'm tapping.
