We definitely up the intensity when it comes to competition time... I am stressed for time, but I will throw a post down tomorrow when I have a minute.

we, do alot of live rolling, with points b4 tournaments, also we start standing and brush up on takedowns, cuz most of the guys in my gym have kinda crappy takedowns

b4 tournament time we intensify the training, warm-up becomes more cardio style than usual, and we work alot of basic takedowns, and as time gets closer, we practice more techniques which ppl r having trouble with or need more detail about
for like worlds and panams and stuff we once did what i call a jiu-jitsu marathon, evrybody trains and after several mintues we switch to a new partner, and train again, then switch again for the whole class, by that time evrybody is rlly tired, and theres alot more of lay and pray than submissions

Before competition, we do a lot of rolling, but we tend to start off in shit house positions. I.e.
Roll with a partner for 5 mins, but start off underneath side control, and then after 2 and a half minutes switch over and your partner starts off under side control.
Do that for side control, guard, knee ride, mount etc.
Generally we choose a strategy with the take downs for what we are going to do in the comp. I.e. if you already know 100% you are going to try to pull guard, then with your partner practise pulling guard properly. There is no point practising a double leg take down for 20 mins before a comp if you aren't going to use it.
We tend to focus a lot on escapes when practising for a comp - with a lot of emphasis on knowing how the point scoring system works, and being happy to take a win on points.
We already have a very hard conditioning routine year round. Both my coaches still fight in MMA and compete in BJJ comps still (one of my trainers, Anthony Perosh, just won the Australasian Abu Dabhi Gi qualifers and will be representing us in Abu Dabhi in a couple of months. He'll probably win the no gi qualifers coming up on the 8th of March as well. They keep us very conditioned.
