Hey,

first off i really enjoy your submissions101 site. Great information. And some of those t-shirts in the shop are sweet.

I am new to the bjj game and am having some difficulty controlling the mount. As this seems to be very important, would you consider doing a few videos on controlling the mount? For example, swimming, low push deflection, etc...

Thanks in advance

M

P.S where in Canada are you guys located?

Hey M:

Thanks bro! We should be putting up a limited release dragon Sub 101 Tee shirt in the shop in the next few days! Very limited numbers, so get yours when they are released.

Your video idea is a great one: I'll make a video on how to stay mounted. There are many tricks which allow you to stay on top.

On a side note: A drill I do will all my new students is this. I have one of my more senior students lie on their back and I tell the new student to mount them. I then tell teh new student "Hold him down as long as you can and try to prevent him from getting guard or back to his feet."

This usually lasts less than 10 seconds.

I then reverse it and tell my senior student to get on top and do the same thing. I also always ask my lightest student to do it as well (to make sure there is a weight difference between the two).

The outcome is one minute of my senior student keeping the person pinned. Or several armbar and chokes 'attempts."

It's a great tool for those who have never done jj before. They usually go " wow....jj rocks"

Cheers
Ari
