View Full Version : Baby Arm thread
I play TSC. Shhhh! don't tell anybody.
I'm a 2-trick pony from TSC. Normally I just mount pass. Sometimes when clearing the opponent's far arm it gets cleared real good and I just take the arm triangle from there.
I am looking for a possible trick number 3. Nobody I roll with sticks their arm through my legs. I am just sitting here thinking about the position while I eating my Taco Salad wondering if I'm an in a right side TSC would it be feasible to use my right hand to try to create the baby arm rather than just using baby arm as a technique of opportunity.
Probably a stupid idea. I may play with it tonight and see how bad I get whipped.
Hang on, so you're talking about forcing the baby arm?
I wouldn't class it as very high percentage, but I've grabbed the arm of the opponent like this and forced the baby arm before. Just make sure you keep your weight pinned on his face!

.....
Yes. I'm THINKING if I do not get the baby arm it would still be distractive. I can see where I may have a lot of trouble holding my base.
Thanks a lot
PS - I probably shouldn't think too much. It gets me in trouble.

Depending on what kind of normal side control you are utilizing, when you make the transition, try to think about during your hip switch, landing each leg on an opposite side of opponents arm. It's actually one of the few moves I have been able to pull succesfully on a fairly regular basis.

Ed rolls gi, would that help the percentage a bit? I know it wont make a huge difference.
Thank everyone for your input.
maybe try the hip lock from there. Ed I imagine you as a powerful guy with very strong legs and torso so I think the hip lock would work well for you. Here's the link

I would think any move could be a high percentage move if enough reps are put in. Its all about the set up.
