german suplex. my favorite. a lateral drop seems to be effective with the guy pushing back into you.

Leg sweep's and hip tosses, i dunno but what ever Fedor uses lol,
Have a look at fedor lastest sambo finale win, He uses an inside leg sweep oh so well, but he did use the sambo Gi.
Id have a look at Fedor's take downs In MMA.

The throws from Judo guys... The like of Kazushi Sakuraba and the Karo Parisyan...:D

German suplex too... The one used by Randleman to Fedor. That was just wicked.

for doing the most damage, i would say a reverse hip throw, but those arn't exactly allowed in competitions, :D

i would havto say the shoulder throw, i think it is easier to get than the hip throw, and is faster, to me.

my hip throws are kind of slow and choppy, but i can pull a nice quick shoulder throw, and be walking away before they hit the floor,

i am personally not a fan of "shooting", and have never been fond of throwing my head at another person's knees

My high percentage take downs - Spring hip throw, Tomoe Nage (idk what you would call this in english terms), then there's the ones I don't know the names for... lol I'll grab their wrist and spin my upper body 180 degrees while driving their hand towards the ground ... it's a real pain on the persons wrist so they really have no choice but to go down - it sounds stupid until it's done on you lol. Sometimes I'll shoot for a single leg, if I can't get it, rather than letting go I'll stand up (and if quick enough so they don't take my back) I'll hold the leg and go for a hip throw that way (again don't know the fancy terms for it)

With that said... I've never got someone with a double leg or any sort of wrestling move - yeah I suck with that

To be a blunt and systematical martial artist, I will say that my best/favourite throw is the one that presents itself most openly at the time.

With that being said, I like the basic Shoulder throw, along with the Neck entanglement, and an Outer reaping sweep.

Ya...my Japanese sucks, which is why I live in Canada :D

Cool...I just saw this being featured on a you tube channel called Sub 101 ;-)

Most of my throws are aiki jujutsu based and when I was recently visiting a BJJ Gracie Barra school, I used the same throw to toss 4 guys in a row. Must be something to this stuff huh? (shameless plug for JJJ)

Harai Goshi
Hane Goshi
Uchi Mata

I think sutemi waza a bit too dangerous, but they work good... "yoko" better then "ma" somehow...

does anyone even know what I am writing about (yeah Ari, I know you do - coming from jjj ^^)

The only word I know is Randori and Upa... I'd basically have to go to the library to research on this...

I really need to learn some more throws from standing. I have watched Ari's JJJ vids and had moderate success with them, but nothing like really drilling them would give me. When we roll, we usually start from knees, so I usually go for a Thai clinch and throw from there. That, or if they are posting one leg out too far or sitting too far back on their knees then I go for the single/double. I would be really hesitent to use it in MMA though... training MT, I have fairly quick knees and I think seeing a head come down without me even having to pull would bring that knee up instinctually... and if I can do it, so can they.

......

Yep.

Right now I am just playing with Jiu Jitsu guys. They are real defensive and they are being difficult to hook-up with. They defend their collars when standing etc. Some of them stoop over a lot with their heads up and they shoot a lot.

Big throws for me right now are: Uki waza, Sumi gaeshi, and Yoko Tomoe nage. Yoko Tomoe is nice because it opens exactly like a pull to guard. Downside is sometimes is results in a scamble that I don't always win.

There are a few combos I work off from O-uchi-gari and Hiza Guruma or Sasae Tsurikomi ashi.

I love the double knee drop if I can get the hook-up I want. My favorite hook-up is one that Jacare uses alot. Two hands on one lapel like you are trying to climb up a rope.

For the most part I have just been pulling guard or getting pulled into guard. I don't always trust my partner's ukemi and I don't care about winning. It is safer to just work from guard or from inside guard.

There is a Judo Info site for those that do not know about it. That is a great place to learn what techniques these Japanese names refer to. Just do a search on Judo Info

well technically speaking, if you drop levels for a shot, your knee is on the ground, and some cases, both knees. this means you are a grounded opponent, so a knee would be illegal.

personally when i shoot, it is usually after something such as a punch or a slip so the other guy is either not looking or over extended. i also drop down during a body clinch, although it isn't too hard if you have both under hooks to pick them up and dump them.

greco roman takedowns are sick though.

osoto-otoshi (so brutal)

osoto-gari

head and arm throw (harai goshi)

not sure what it's called but u step around to their side and grip across their hip with one arm and in between their leg with the other, then lift them turn them so they are horizontal and slam them.

lateral drop (but i do it as more of a sacrifice throw than a suplex)

I have used a figure four throw(I dont know if it has another name) with decent success. You get into a clinch and overhook one of their arms the you plant your other wrist on their chest and grab that wrist with the overhooking hand. Step forward a bit then sit and twist. Other than that I have only had success with Osoto-gari

Read you loud a clear. What kind of Sutemi Waza though? I think Mae Sutemi Waza would work wonders for BJJ. Ura Nage is my fav throw. Even a well place Tomoe Nage followed with a arm lock would work. Should go and check out Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki. He was awesome with Sutemi waza
