I've got a fight coming up and want to know what I should eat the night before and the morning of the fight for the most energy.

I was planning on a big pasta dinner the night before but I don't really have any idea for the day of. I was thinking a normal breakfast and some trail mix before the fight.

Any suggestions?

Best thing before anything active is rolled oats or porridge and honey.Maybe with a banana too

A couple factors come into play... How much weight are you cutting (if any), and what time is your fight. Of course I'm no pro - there are people that can probably give you better advise. Also, everyone's body is different. My advice, and what I do...

Dinner - Spaghetti with lean chicken (not the cheap chicken full of fat), some wheat bread, and a lot of water.

Morning - Cup of oatmeal, banana, wheat toast, OJ

Mid morning - Apple, continue drinking A LOT of water

Lunch - Lean chicken, small rice, get in a liter of water or so throughout this hour

By afternoon start slowing down on the water. And I'm done eating for the day, aside from sucking on some oranges. There's nothing worse than having nerves on a full stomach. I don't want to pull a Tim Sylvia. Again, that's just what I do and it will vary from person to person - and I'm sure you can get a lot better advice from others in here.

You don't have to cut weight or anything?

Food rich in carbo is what you have to eat.

But if ever you have to cut weight then maybe food reach in fiber. Makes you full but at the same time makes you do something in the toilet...

Great tips so far - it never even crossed my mind to eat oatmeal the morning of. I'm dropping to 160 and I currently weigh 163 so I'm not really worried about making weight - I'm fairly lean as it is. I'll also be sure to keep plenty hydrated.

Thanks!

When you say fight do you mean MMA or anything? Can you possibly have a video on that man? We would surely like to see that...:)

Food rich in fiber the day before or the day of the fight isn't the best idea in the world.. lol what happens when it's going into the third round and you need to find a toilet?

Haha... I just took the idea of eating carrots than carbs when cutting weight in JayC's thread. Just eat it... Eat carrots. And of course bring yourself antimotility capsules just in case younwha...:D

Dan Hardy recommended an alkaline diet to me. 80% alkaline, 20% acidic.

Google it, son!

foods high in fat. fats give more energy than carbs. i think it is 9 calories per fat as opposed to 4 calories per carb. so a good balance of carbs and fat would work. basically whatever you ate during training should work. i'm pretty sure the substantiated facts of carbo-loading actually working was due to the fact that the subjects had low carb intakes.

Hahahaha true , but i find that the body, once in fight mode ,stops the need to crap. Lol just before the fight is another matter.
I used to always have a big dump just before a big Rugby game or a surf in big swell...
Nerves will make u shit yourself lol.. Just try and do it before u start , hahaha.
Its normal for your body to shed what ever excess weight it can , before heading into heavy situations.

To add my 0.02$ to this... avoid a high protein intake (red meats primarily), as protein requires more energy to digest, and will make you sluggish.

And if you are going to take in a lot of carbs, avoid simple (read: refined) sugars and/or anything w/ corn syrup.
Whole grains are good, like someone earlier said try oats and some fruit.
