View Full Version : Defending the calf crush from the lockdown
Hey guys. I have this situation that seems to be occurring more and more since I've been extensively using the lockdown at my gym. A couple of guys will break my underhooks, post up and turn around to grab my foot in order to bend it back crushing my calf with my own leg.
Occasionally, when they go back there I can reach the electric chair before they can hit my foot. But besides the electric chair and just unlocking the lockdown, are there any other ideas on how to defend against the calf crush?

100% to the back, or arm triangle. I'd probably opt for the arm triangle.
Thinking about this, I see an opportunity for Mr. Brandon Quick's "Hardcore" technique.
I'll find the video...

The mechanics will be a little different, but the idea is the same. See if you can't find someone to drill it with.

hmmmm...anytime someone breaks the underhooks and postures up and reaches back should allow you to easily pull your knees forward and cause them to fall forward again. Even if you can't, simply turning sideways and attempting the old school or plan b should be there.
I am willing to to help people fix their problems via video if they so choose.
Put your videos up on youtube either live roll or demonstrating what is happening when you do A and person counters with B and we'll trouble shoot together.

No video of myself.. I'll see what I can do about that.
However I did find a video of Erik Paulson doing a similar thing to Dr. Sick.
