I have been doing Judo for about a year and a half now and theres nothing better than being in the Dojo and learning straight from the source but recently I have been financially unable to continue my training (17, low income family) on a good note I can go back to my training and expand on it when I start my job at subway. (March 18th) I use some of the 10th planet system when at Judo or sparring with my friends and I find it insane on how the internet and TV has helped me increase my ground game and martial art knowledge. The videos on Submissions101 have truely helped me better my ground fighting and It is a amazing thing.

i feel you about not being able to afford training. in my area you'll be paying between $120-175 for a month of bjj and you have to sign a 12 month contract. my favorite thing about online videos is the fast that they make you think. you get concepts in your head that you can work on when you get time to roll. glad to see you're fitting in your training with your new job. i recently went through a huge change in cash flow and i totally understand how much it sucks to have to stop training for awhile. on the upside, if you've went through a situation like that it means that you're into training for the long run. keep watching videos and thinking.

Learning through online videos is great, but it can never replace actual practices!

Subs101 has got to be the greatest place on the net for quick, great looking (not actors, quality :p), and simple yet effective videos. I find myself being quite fortunate after being on here for a while and learning about different price ranges, and having a cheap $$$ club while having a great time.

If you ever get the feeling that you may drop into a situation where you can't afford to train for a while, starting taking notes about what goes on in your class (I find doing these notes right before I go to bed after a class is the best time)...Training blogs, requirement lists for gradings, etc. really help when you can't make it to class, but you can still go over what you need to know!

Best of luck to you!

Once I get this job I can get back to Judo, I miss training so much but these videos have helped my game so much the Sub101 team is doing a great thing by opening these videos to the public for free. I have used many of these videos in live spars at class and this stuff works whether its online or not.

I just don't know what would be happening to me next year. I have the choice of going into Law School or finding myself a job as a History Instructor (I'm a Political Science which has a double major in History) in one University. I would really like to choose the latter as I really enjoy teaching and at the same time I can earn money for Jits... The things is if I ever get the position of History instructor I end up being in a place where there are no gym. If I take up Law I would have many gyms to choose from but I would definitely be very busy...

I really need a break from acads and try for work maybe for just a year then proceed to law. It's a nice thing that there's sub101 for the videos. I just have to find some Judo guys to roll with as there are not so many BJJ guys in here.

Yea, I am afraid that once I get out of highschool I will be limited to training as much.
