I tried my first pentagram choke today. The guy tapped EXTREEMLY quickly, but when I asked him where he felt it, he said that it felt like his chest was caving in. I tried it a second time with the same results. He's much smaller than I am. He is an athletic 150, whereas I am 229lbs. I don't think the chest compression would work on someone as big or bigger than me. What do you think I may be doing wrong that would make it a chest compression & not a choke/crank?

Thanks!

Hey Carl:

The size difference between you obviously gave you some unique results. Usually the pentagram is either a: choke or a neck crank compression (depending on how deep you sink it).

The chest compression may be happening because you are crushing his chest with the leg across (the one you grab the ankle with). When you triangle your other foot over, I suspect this is causing your superior leg strength to crush his ribs and chest.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong per se, it's just you get different results when you out weigh your partner by 75 lbs.

cheers
Ari

Thanks,
I'll let you know how it goes against a different guy.
Playing it back in my head, I think I may have been to low on his body.

Thanks for sharing all the creative moves. I love hearing those magic words:

tap tap tap "What the heck was that?!" :)

grin...

tap tap tap "What the heck was that?!"

That was from submissions 101 and that's why you're out on your back!
