How portable are the "puzzle" style mats in Ari's vids? I was thinking about getting a 10ft by 10ft area for me and my friend to train on and alternate houses to train at so he doesnt have to make the trip everytime. So in short, would it tear up the mats to put them together and take them apart like once a week, or are they more designed to be put up once or twice in the lifetime of the mat? Thanks

Corry:
The mats are pretty durable and you shouldn't have a problem what's so ever taking them apart. At my previous school, we tore them down 3 days a week for over a year with no ill effects.

Thanks Ari, and Hadaka, you can get mats (not sure if you are interested in certain brands or not) from 1inch 10ft by 10ft - 195.00, and the 1.5inch is 360.00 for the 10ft by 10ft. link - http://jiujitsuprogear.com//index.php?cPath=40&osCsid=a3c1b657ca66ec31879434538792ed39

Your good.... it's helpful no spam or any of that crap
Yeah I think the only way Tom would see a prob is if it advertised porn, cell phones, drugs etc or an alternative to what he sells here or if they have a forum.
Maybe you could work out a deal where you purchase the mats and he comes over to workout. Heres a few reasons why
-what if you two aren't buddies in a few months
-you will lose workout time if you have to set up mats
-may be easier to transfer skin diseases ie ringworm, impetego (sp), mat herpes

Here is the thing with me and my friend, been friends for going on 20yrs, he is a truck driver so he is only home from Fri. night to Sun. morning. So (to me anyways) it seems better for me to get the mats and keep them at my place, and then every other weekend or so take em to his place (just for a day or 2 of practice) and then bring them back home for me to work out with while he is back on the road. Who knows, maybe after awhile he can save up some money and get his own small mat set for his place.

Oh, forgot to ask, how thick are the mats that you use in your school Ari? Thanks

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering if you guys think a 1inch thick mat would be ok for light rolling with no throws. More like some specific training, and starting out from knees. Thanks

I've trained on those and its tough on the body and knees.
