I have a quick question to find out what some of you do if this happens.

I regularly use double bagger to control my opponent when I make the transition to chill dog. Well one of my opponents (a very smart technical blue belt) knows after getting his arm to the mat I am going to make the transition to chill dog by clearing his neck to give myself more offensive options. So when I go to make this transition he starts pushing his head towards the left side of my body (I grab my left ankle with my right hand)....

The obvious answer I"m thinking is I believe the "rescue dog" right??? Where I make a quick transition to grabbing the opposite leg???? But that puts me in chill dog without having new york secured yet (since i had his other arm on the mat before trying to go to chill dog but not his left arm which could be anywhere at that point)..... any other ideas????

Retreat back to the overhook and quickly secure the Pyramid position?

hmmmmm i'll check on that.... The pyramid I have to have that knee thru correct? I just looked at MTRG and it specifically shows the knee coming up.... that's one position that i haven't worked on enough that's for sure....

I basically slide my left hand down, secure the over hook. Retreat my legs back to closed guard. Then I shift my hips to the left so that my right leg can more easily clear their bicep.

I never release pressure. I just unhook closed guard and squezze my left leg into the back of their neck and shove my right knee as far into their armpit as possible so that it's ready to move up when the opening happens.

If they are a bit wily grabbing the back of their head with your right hand will help control them while you adjust your hips and stuff... actually they'll sometimes try to move your hand off of their head at which point you grab their wrist and move it away so you can clear the leg through for a triangle.

i have been playing around with this exact scenario.

i transition to meat hook and test options there even have used that and reached under my armpit while in meat hook to attain chill dog.

it works for me.

wow reaching through your armpit to attain chill dog.... that's something i never thought about..... i'll have to try that out...

and the transition to pyramid is a good idea as well.... all good stuff if you're not so good at rescue dog...
