Im sure im not the only one out there like this. If I dont perform at my best at all time then it eats at me FOREVER. That my be a little dramatic but it at least eats at me till the next time i get to roll. Im not sure if its a curse or if it is a good thing. For example if im rolling with somebody thats a white belt and I cant submit him. Even if im completely dominating positionally (is that a word?). I dunno it just really frustrates me. My wife says im too hard on myself and I need to just let things go...that just doesnt work for me or happen ever. Anybody else like this?

You're way too hard on yourself man. I think if you expect to dominate everytime you roll, it enhances ego, inevitably adds to your frustration and limits your learning curve.

Everybody wants to be the hammer...nobody wants to be the nail. Listen to your wife sometimes that are right.

Whether it's a curse or a good thing will be entirely up to you.
Use your ego, drive it to make yourself better. But don't let "it drive you."
Can't be king of the world all the time, no worries, enjoy the ride.
You have passion and that's all important. But compare it to water. Can't live without it. But if there's six feet of it in your living room it's really going to suck.
Cut yourself a slice of slack. Have more fun training, brother! My guess is, you'll improve even quicker that way.

Even when you lose, you win. If you can't learn to view it that way, your training will plateau and you won't advance. You need to look at the bigger picture...

stay competitive, just don't let it become negative.

if anything, look at the small details as victories. you won the position battle, which means you were one step or his mistake away from stopping him.

if you really want to nit pick, lab what was stopping you from getting that submission. there is always room to improve.

I've got a friend thats like that. He has to be at 100% all of the time or he will get frustrated and angry with himself for a while. I think its an ego thing. If I ever get frustrated because of something like this I try to let it go because its not helping me at all, and I try to learn from it to avoid it happening again.

dont be so hard on yourself, try to see what the others made good, so that you couldnt submit them

you cant be superman, because i am :D

I feel somedays my students have my number but I know it's just them improving. I do have nights where i do get abit frustrated and i do get beat down. But, it's all part of the game. One thing i do is reflect on what mistakes i made and find ways to improve. do reps and things iron out. Your wifes right, don't hard on yourself.

I'm the same. Even if I'm wresting a purple etc I get frustrated that I often by the time I think "this is what I need to do" it's too late. They are always one step ahead of me and it shits me.
