question about "rules" for you
we've been working a variation or knee on belly that is esentially knee on head or neck
to the best of your knowledge is this a "legal" postion in jits?

yes it is but if you do knee on head watch that you dont twist his neck (only if twisted neckcranks are forbidden ;)), that would be the only problem i could imagine
Be careful around the face area.
Also be careful how you get the position. Use of knees in a way which could hurt your opponent is considered a serious foul. A knee drop on your opponents head would be a disqualification.
Be careful of anything that could crank the neck.
*** This is coming from IBJJF gi - type competitions ***
I don't know anything about no gi. ..... and very little about gi stuff.

we used to use a knee on jaw type of crank.
from knee on belly(chest)bolth hands grab the head, and the knee slides up to the jaw and pull on the head like a canopener.
prolly a douche move but it works for self defence not really sport

That's the first thing that came to mind lol I would be pissed if someone pulled that on me at a tourney.

Knee on the neck is one of the oldest control moves in Law Enforcement. Keeps em where you want em until they're cuffed.
Tell me about. We had 8 cops in my Karate dojo and our teacher was a cop.

Well any tournament I've been in knees on the face or neck were illegal. I'd be pretty mad if someone did that to me!
Welcome to the forum, Deimos. Nice to have you here.
Enjoy, bro, we all do.

I'm not so sure. The best advice would be to consult a local ref to find out, even then one ref may consider it a foul whereas another may not... On a curious note, why is it something you're working on for competition?? Just work on the knee on belly and get your two points!! :)

i doubt i will be competing, but want to be able to tell the guys i roll with if it is allowed or not for comps because they are looking to compete down the line, i'm a much better teacher than practitioner
this position comes after knee on belly actually and is a transition to a bunch of subs we've been working
