Just wondering what subs you guys really hate. I'll go first.

I hate the guillotine. Its just so harsh and barbaric, it can easily cause injury and its painful and just really not nice. I also pretty dislike cranks for much the same reasons.

I hate the nasty rejects who don't shower, and don't wash their Gi, then try to smother you with their nasty stanky body....

also, not a fan of ANY leg locks...there's just too many freak accidents that could happen with them

I hate heel hooks and knee bars, especially when applied by unexperienced people. The potential for legitimate, long lasting damage is huge.

A guillotine done right isn't that bad, it's when you turn it into a throat crush (which a lot of guys do) that it gets nasty.

Personally, choking on fat uneducated people that smother you. A lat choke?! Am I choking on your thigh?! WTF is that covering my nose and mouth right now?!

i hate americanas the most, mostly cuz its probably the most common submission that i get caught in, mostly by bigger guys who basically lay on top of me and isolate my arm, then apply what i consider to be the most common lock to all newbs.
i also had a bad experience with an americana that got cranked too quickly, i felt the pop b4 i get a chance to tap

Kimuras... they seem to be the only thing I get caught with these days. Dudes will just pry my hooks loose and wrangle my arm until I tap.

I hate guillotines because when I get caught in one, it's usually because I did something unbelieveably stupid. One of my untrained-in-grappling kung fu sibs has caught me in really good guillotines a couple of times.... the girl doesn't know a guillotine from a groundhog, she can just do this because she has a knack, and because her brothers mauled her a lot when they were kids... and the SECOND time she did it to me in a single afternoon, in front of everybody, I was so embarrassed.

A few times in BJJ, when we've started from standing, people have caught me in guillotines almost immediately as soon as I try to lunge in and engage them. Again, humiliating.

I hate triangles because my two favorite rolling partners are really good at them and use them a lot on me as their favorite sub. You'd think that by now I'd be better at defending against them, but I still get triangled constantly by those two people.

I don't like arm locks much because sometimes people are moving really fast, and I am a little paranoid about shoulder/elbow/wrist injuries from not being able to tap in time. I've had a couple of bad shoulder injuries already, and they are incredibly frustrating for how long they take to heal up and how impaired they make me in the meantime.

Chokes I don't mind. I can squirm out of a lot of them... and even if I can't, I am usually in a position to be able to tap when I need to tap, so it is no big deal.

The Monson choke, because people rarely get it in deep enough to make me tap but my neck always hurts the next day from them squeezing while hunting for it.

That probably is the worst. I once showed a guy how to properly hit the Darce just because I was tired of him ringing my neck with his crappy attempt.

Some of the guys want to get better so we openly tell each other if we tapped due to a sloppy crank or an actual choke.

Neck cranks and leg locks. I like getting choked. It doesn't frighten me in the least. I have never ever ever been submitted by a guillotine. Not once.

I don't know if, as of yet, I have a hated submission. I am, however, afraid to have someone heel hook me. I might do an achilles lock, but no heel hooks. I've seen too many videos of people having their ankle's snapped because of them.

I tend to tap to early when I feel someone getting them though :(

QUICKEDIT: I hate neck cranks. The Can Opener is just a bitch of a move. It hurts so bad. And Kimura, while I don't hate it, is the only submission so far that still hurts 5 minutes after I tap. The Omoplata is probably the same way though...

I sincerely hate heel hooks, considering I've gotten a sprained ankle from one. Too dangerous if you're just rolling for fun, IMO. Other ankle locks, go ahead, but not heel hooks.

I also hate kimuras for the pain I feel in my bad shoulders for it...wrist locks hurt too much too :D

I hate getting neck cranked. It hurts. I hate anaconda chokes and triangles too. That's because I can't land one.

Leg locks are a problem for me because I'm usually like pfsh I can get out of this, followed with holy jesus wtf asdlkjawoij TAP TAP ... I'm not too fond of neck cranks either.

Chokes don't really bother me, I stay pretty composed and can usually find time to escape, but if not, sleeping isn't a huge deal.

sry for bringing up an old thread. i hate small joint manipulation of all types. hurts like a thousand burning suns. and heel hooks. potential snapping might occur. i also dont like toe holds, they dont sit well with me at all. but, i think most of us agree that wrist locks are the scariest things on earth

Heel Hooks. I feel they rely on brute force more than technique.

Heel hooks that are done with brute force are not doing the technique correctly....The problem with heel hooks is that it's a twisting leg lock....very....very dangerous...

Again...I HATE HATE HATE leg locks...

Any kind of trachea choke. My voice is changed because of several brutal choke over the last couple years. My throat was sore for a couple of weeks after each time.

Even though I hate them if it is the only thing that I can catch I will take the ol guillotine.:p I try not to but sometimes that is the only thing that I can catch the pro fighters at the gym with.

I hate getting done with a forearm choke from side control. The choke isn't too bad, but using brute force to get past your chin to your throat to start with can be painful :-)
