There are some Brazilian`s that are plain crazy. Wallid is one of them. The guy is a super grappler for sure. He is also quoted as saying ``Royce is no better than a Blue belt.``

I always thought it was Laimon who first talked about Royce being no better than a blue belt. What a crock of shit!
Yeah that guy is nuts...I remember watching that PrideFC and his interview in many others. He is the guy who talked shit and meant/believe every single word. No hype there...just a case of the angry dwarf crazies!!:D
Carlson told Royce not to take that the submission match against Wallid. :D Wallid used to wear his kimono like a dead man, right collar on top instead of left collar on top because it messed with his opponents.
I always liked Wallid. He was loyal to Carlson till the day he passed away. Most of Carlson's top guys quit him.
Wallid had the wildest scarriest stare down I ever seen. It always looked like his eyes were going to explode or something.

Doesn't Royce wear his blue belt now?
Why is there so much trash talk, bad feelings and general hate in Jiu-jitsu? For that matter, in Martial Arts in general?

Men have ego.

Within the context of that video Wallid was beating every single Gracie via grappling tournaments. He was trying to bait the rest of the family into further confrontations in order to get a nice paycheck for the subsequent fight.
At least that's what I had heard.

Professor Sauer also wears his kimono like this...just for the record.
You understood the dead man reference didn't you?
The left side of the jacket is always wrapped over the right side. The reverse is avoided because that is how the deceased are dressed for their funerals. I figured you would know that but some people may not.
Another piece of useless trivia from Ed.

Hey Ed any idea why most people wrap their gi with the right side in? I mean is there any old story to it? Someone once told me it was so when a guy pulled his sword out from the right side it wouldn't get caught up... but idk that just sounds like some mumbo jumbo.
I don't know. That is just the way it is I guess. I know you do not wrap left side in because that is the way deceased are dressed for their funeral.
Japan is right handed society. If you carry anything inside your jacket it would be difficult in with your right to access it if the jacket was reversed.
I would like to think a lot of traditions do not necessarily come from the sword but have more mundane origins. Martial arts uniforms are designed the way they are because that is the way people dressed, not just warriors. But I have no idea why traditions are what they are.
