Well i went to class last night and had a ball with only one sour note. I received a belt promotion in Kempo, but unfortunately I sprained my knee during warm up. We were warming up with some MMA, and I was in guard, submitting my opponent about every 45 seconds. Then, he stood up in my guard while I was going for a butterfly sweep and I tweaked my knee in the process. I taped it up and did my belt test. I passed and didnt feel that bad, until this morning I can barely walk. So I obviously skipped BJJ after Kempo, but am very excited for class on Tuesday. Thanks to everyone for the support, as Ive been going through this rut lately. Oh and I talked to my teacher and he is going to let me write a weekly column on the schools website. I will write articles on whatever is on my mind at the time. This is just the thing I needed to get out of my rut. Now if only I wasnt working 13 hours today with a bum leg...........:) peace

I train in Shijian Kempo, which is a mix of Ed Parker kempo and grappling. There is no forms, only defensive manuevers. We spar alot on our feet, and we mix it up on the ground. The belts are pretty much just like a traditional karate, there are about 10 belts i believe. My favorite thing to do is spar, because im about 6'5 and 210 lbs so I have a huge advantage in reach. Its fun to give the instructors a run for their money but they put it on me pretty good. One is a former national karate champion and one has 3 different black belts in Kempo. They keep me very humble. If you live in Idaho, there is no better place to train, for I have pretty much trained everywhere in my area. If anyone is ever passing thru, send me a private message and you can come train for a night. Thanks again for the posts
